Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata National Reserve – Amazon Rainforest Hike & Night Safari
The adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, where our team will welcome you and provide a brief orientation before starting the journey into the rainforest.
The trip combines land transportation and river navigation, allowing you to gradually leave the city behind
and immerse yourself in the Amazonian landscape until reaching the lodge. Upon arrival, you will settle into your
accommodation and enjoy lunch, depending on your arrival time.
In the afternoon, we will take an exploratory walk through the rainforest surrounding the lodge. This first excursion
is an excellent opportunity to begin discovering the extraordinary biodiversity of Tambopata and observe birds, insects, monkeys, and other wildlife that inhabit the tropical forest.
After sunset, we will embark on a nighttime Amazon wildlife search. The forest takes on a completely different
atmosphere after dark, and with the assistance of our guides, you may have the opportunity to observe nocturnal
insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other creatures that become active at night.
Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick – Yacumama Lake – Piranha Fishing & Nighttime Caiman Search
The second day begins very early with a visit to a macaw clay lick, one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences in the Amazon.
At sunrise, several species of macaws and parrots may gather around the clay lick. The sight of these brightly colored birds flying through the morning sky, combined with their distinctive calls, creates an unforgettable experience for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and wildlife photographers.
After this activity, we will return toward Puerto Maldonado and continue our adventure at Yacumama Lake. Here, surrounded by the peaceful rainforest and natural landscapes of Madre de Dios, we will enjoy a recreational piranha fishing experience.
As night falls, we will take part in a nighttime caiman search. With the assistance of our experienced guides, we will explore suitable areas in search of caimans in their natural habitat and learn how Amazonian wildlife changes after sunset.
This nocturnal excursion offers a different perspective of the rainforest, when many species that remain hidden during the day become active.
Day 3: Exploring the Amazon – Sandoval Lake – Puerto Maldonado / Airport .
The final day is dedicated to one of the most iconic destinations in the Peruvian Amazon: Sandoval Lake, located within the Tambopata National Reserve.
During this excursion, we will explore the trails and natural environments surrounding the lake, where you can appreciate the remarkable diversity of Amazonian flora and fauna.
