This excursion combines nature, canoeing, traditional piranha fishing, birdwatching, and one of the most special moments of the afternoon: sunset over the waters of the Amazon.

Beginning the Adventure from Puerto Maldonado

Our experience begins at approximately 3:00 p.m. at our office, located at the Plaza de Armas in Puerto Maldonado.

Upon arrival at the entrance, we will take a walk of approximately 10 minutes until we reach the lake.

Canoe Ride on Yacumama Lake : Once we reach the lake, one of the most enjoyable activities of the excursion will begin: a canoe ride across the calm waters of Yacumama Lake.

Canoeing across the lake allows you to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace and observe how the Amazonian vegetation surrounds the water. The atmosphere changes completely as the afternoon progresses: the sounds of the rainforest, the reflection of the trees, and the possibility of encountering different bird species make this an ideal experience for those looking to connect with nature.

The canoe ride also provides excellent opportunities for photography and for enjoying the Amazon away from the noise of the city.

Piranha Fishing in the Peruvian Amazon : During our visit to Yacumama Lake, we will have the opportunity to take part in one of the best-known activities in the rainforest: piranha fishing.

Using traditional techniques and under the guidance of our guide, we will try to attract these famous Amazonian fish. Beyond simply making a catch, this activity offers a fun way to learn about some of the animals that inhabit the aquatic ecosystems of the Amazon.

Piranha fishing is especially enjoyable for families, couples, groups of friends, and travelers looking to add a different activity to their itinerary in the Tambopata and Puerto Maldonado area.

Birdwatching: Parrots and Amazonian Birds : Yacumama Lake also offers the opportunity to observe different bird species, especially during the final hours of the afternoon.

As we navigate the lake, we will keep an eye on the treetops, shoreline, and Amazonian sky in an attempt to spot parrots and other bird species found in the region. The amount of wildlife we may see can vary depending on weather conditions, the season, and the natural behavior of the animals.

For photography and birdwatching enthusiasts, this part of the excursion provides a special opportunity to appreciate the biodiversity that characterizes the Peruvian Amazon.

An Unforgettable Sunset Over the Lake : One of the most anticipated moments of this excursion arrives at the end of the afternoon.

As the sun begins to set, the landscape of Yacumama Lake takes on different shades of color. The sky can transform into a combination of warm tones reflected on the surface of the water, creating the perfect setting to relax, take photographs, and simply admire nature.
