Day 1: Tambopata National Reserve – Observation Tower & Night Activity
Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, we will pick you up and transfer you to the Tambopata River. We will travel by boat to our lodge, where you will settle in.
In the afternoon, we will take a walk to a 50-meter-high observation tower, offering spectacular views of the Amazon rainforest. From the tower, we can observe birds such as toucans, parrots, and macaws.
At night, we will take a boat excursion in search of caimans, capybaras, and other nocturnal wildlife.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Tambopata – Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, Yacumama Lake & Piranha Fishing
Very early in the morning, we will navigate the Tambopata River to the famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, where we can observe macaws, parrots, and parakeets feeding on the clay.
On the way back, we will continue observing wildlife along the river.
In the afternoon, we will visit Yacumama Lake, where we will enjoy piranha fishing and the beautiful Amazonian scenery. Weather and river conditions permitting, we may also enjoy a beautiful sunset.
Transfer to the second lodge, followed by dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Sandoval Lake – Exploring Amazonian Flora & Wildlife
We will navigate along the Madre de Dios River to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. From there, we will take a walk through the rainforest until we reach the spectacular Sandoval Lake.
We will explore the lake by boat while looking for monkeys, aquatic birds, caimans, taricaya turtles, and, with some luck, giant river otters.
We will enjoy lunch surrounded by nature before beginning our return journey to the lodge.
Day 4: Amazon Adventure – Monkey Island, Hanging Bridge, Zip-Line & Kayaking
Our final day combines nature and adrenaline. We will visit an area known for its Amazonian monkeys and then enjoy a kayaking excursion on the river.
After lunch, we will continue with our adventure activities, including a 28-meter observation tower, a 120-meter hanging bridge, and a 190-meter zip-line.
Finally, we will return to Puerto Maldonado, where our unforgettable 4-day Tambopata Amazon adventure will come to an end.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado, Tambopata River, Observation Tower & Caiman Watching .
Our 4-Day Amazon Tour begins with a pick-up at Puerto Maldonado Airport.
We will then transfer you to our office, where you can leave your backpacks or heavy luggage before starting the expedition.
Afterward, we will travel approximately 50 minutes by tourist transportation to the port on the Tambopata River. From there, we will continue our adventure by boat, navigating the Tambopata River until we reach the lodge, where we will settle into our rooms.
50-Meter Observation Tower : In the afternoon, we will begin our first activity in the Amazon rainforest.
We will take an approximately 30-minute walk through the forest until we reach a 50-meter-high observation tower. From the top, we will enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the forest within the Tambopata National Reserve.
During our observation, we will have the opportunity to look for different species of Amazonian birds, including:
Toucans , Macaws , Parrots , Birds of prey , Other tropical bird species
The height of the tower provides a privileged perspective from which to appreciate the vastness of the tropical rainforest.
Nighttime Caiman Watching : Before dinner, we will take a nighttime boat excursion along the Tambopata River in search of wildlife.
With the help of our guides and flashlights, we will explore the riverbanks in an attempt to spot white and black caimans, as well as capybaras and other nocturnal species.
During the activity, we will learn more about the behavior, diet, and characteristics of Amazonian wildlife.
Finally, we will return to the lodge for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 2: Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, Yacumama Lake & Piranha Fishing
We will begin the second day very early in the morning. The first hours of the day are one of the best times to observe Amazonian wildlife activity.
Our goal will be to visit one of the main highlights of the 4-Day Tambopata Tour: the
Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick : We will navigate approximately one hour along the Tambopata River until we reach the clay lick area.
The Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick is renowned for the concentration of macaws, parrots, and parakeets that gather at the clay cliffs to feed on the minerals found in the soil.
The activity begins with the first flights and calls of the birds. Gradually, different groups may gather, creating a unique natural spectacle in the Peruvian Amazon.
Our guide will help us identify the species we observe and explain the ecological importance of this behavior.
Wildlife Observation Along the Tambopata River
During the return journey, we will continue paying close attention to the riverbanks.
Depending on natural conditions and wildlife activity, we may observe different species of birds and mammals. The Amazonian jaguar, for example, is found in the region, although sightings are unpredictable and can never be guaranteed.
Responsible wildlife observation is carried out with respect for the animals and their natural habitat.
Lodge Change: Upper Tambopata to Lower Tambopata
After our experience in the Upper Tambopata area, we will return toward Puerto Maldonado and continue our journey to another area of the rainforest.
Changing lodges will allow us to discover new landscapes and enjoy different activities during the final days of the program.
Yacumama Lake: Piranha Fishing & Sunset : In the afternoon, at approximately 3:30 p.m., we will visit Yacumama Lake.
This natural environment is ideal for enjoying the Amazonian landscape, observing birds, and experiencing piranha fishing.
The activity will last approximately three hours and will take place during the final hours of daylight. Weather and natural conditions permitting, we may enjoy a beautiful Amazonian sunset.
At the end of the activity, we will continue our journey to the second lodge, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Sandoval Lake – Explore Amazonian Flora & Wildlife
The third day will be dedicated to one of the most emblematic destinations of our expedition: Sandoval Lake, located within the Tambopata National Reserve.
Hike to Sandoval Lake : From the lodge, we will navigate for approximately 30 minutes along the Madre de Dios River until we reach the reserve’s control post.
From there, we will begin an approximately one-hour hike through Amazon rainforest trails.
Along the way, we may observe giant trees, tropical plants, birds, and different species of monkeys.
Our guide will explain the characteristics of this ecosystem and the importance of conserving this extraordinary tropical rainforest.
Boat Trip on Sandoval Lake :Upon reaching the lake, we will continue our exploration aboard a small boat.
We will navigate its waters and natural channels while looking for different species of Amazonian wildlife, such as:
Herons and other aquatic birds
Taricaya turtles , Monkeys , Cormorants , Caimans , Giant river otters

Our final day will be dedicated to adventure activities in Tambopata.
Monkey Island: We will begin by visiting an area where we can look for some of the monkey species characteristic of the Amazon rainforest.
Depending on conditions and animal activity, we may encounter species such as capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, tamarin monkeys, and spider monkeys.
As with all wildlife observation, sightings depend on the animals’ behavior and the natural conditions at the time.
Kayaking on the River : We will then enjoy a different experience: a kayaking excursion on the river.
We will paddle surrounded by tropical rainforest while enjoying a different perspective of the Amazonian landscape.
After the activity, we will have lunch and some time to relax.
Observation Tower & Hanging Bridge : In the afternoon, we will continue with our adventure activities.
We will climb an approximately 28-meter-high observation tower and cross an impressive 120-meter-long hanging bridge.
This activity combines adventure, adrenaline, and beautiful views of the Amazon rainforest.
190-Meter Zip-Line : To conclude our expedition, we will enjoy an approximately 190-meter zip-line ride.
Feel the adrenaline as you glide through part of the rainforest and enjoy one final adventure experience in Tambopata.
