From there, a scenic 50-minute boat ride will take us to the Tambopata Lodge Inn, where the adventure begins.

During the trip, keep your eyes peeled—you might spot capybaras, caimans, and even a jaguar resting on the riverbanks. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a refreshing Amazonian drink before settling into your private room.

While enjoying a rustic breakfast, you can observe this natural wonder. Then, we’ll visit the Tambopata Research Center, renowned for its conservation work. Day 3: Exploring to Tambopata Reserve at Lake Sandoval .

After a nutritious breakfast at our jungle lodge, we will navigate downstream along the Tambopata River, a natural route that connects to the majestic Madre de Dios River. There, our tourist vehicle awaits to take us to Puerto Maldonado, where we will change boats to continue the journey through the Upper Madre de Dios toward Lake Sandoval, a hidden gem in the Amazon.

Upon arriving at the entrance to the Tambopata National Reserve, we will begin a roughly 3 km hike through dense tropical forest. This walk is a fascinating introduction to the region’s flora and fauna: butterflies, centuries-old trees, jungle sounds, and perhaps the first sightings of capuchin monkeys or sloths.

At the lake’s dock, we will board a traditional canoe to cross the water mirror to our eco-lodge, a sustainable accommodation nestled in nature. Day 4: Tambopata Jungle Trek to Sandoval Lake  Sunrise  & Amazon Wildlife Safari .

The fourth day begins early with the howler monkeys’ calls and tropical birds as a natural soundtrack. We’ll set out to capture the Amazonian sunrise, one of the most photogenic moments of the trip. Then, we’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a typical breakfast made with local products.

Afterwards, we embark on a wildlife expedition along the reserve’s trails, seeking to spot species such as wild peccaries, tapirs, various monkeys, and, with luck, the spectacled bear, an endangered species. The biodiversity in this area is extraordinary.

At midday, we return for a relaxing lunch and, weather permitting, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in Lake Sandoval (don’t worry—it’s safe and free from dangerous animals). Day 5: Sandoval Lake  & Return to Puerto Maldonado /Airport

Our last day in the jungle starts early with a hot coffee and the hope of seeing giant otters again in full morning activity. The sunrise reveals a magical landscape and a jungle waking up with life.
