Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Tambopata Lodge Inn – Tambopata Jungle Trek

Pickup from bus terminal or airport, then transfer to the main office for check-in.
Prepare for the Tambopata Jungle Trek to Sandoval Lake, starting at 8:30 am.
Private transport for 2 hours to the port on Tambopata River.
50-minute boat journey along Tambopata River, observing various species of wildlife.
Arrival at Tambopata Lodge Inn, greeted with a typical Amazonian aphrodisiac drink.
Lunch at the lodge.
Afternoon guided walk in the primary forest, encountering diverse creatures.
Dinner at the lodge.
Night activity with flashlights to observe alligators, capybaras, and nocturnal wildlife.
Return to the lodge for rest in your respective room.

Day 2: Tambopata Jungle Trek to Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick

Early start at 5:00 am.
Boat journey up the Tambopata River for 1 hour and 20 minutes, enjoying sunrise wildlife spotting.
Visit the clay lick to observe parrots and macaws feeding on clay.
Breakfast during the observation.
Boat journey to Tambopata Lodge Inn.
Explore the Research Center to learn about flora and fauna.
Return to the lodge for dinner.
Night walk to observe nocturnal species.
Rest in your private rooms at Tambopata Lodge Inn.

Day 3:  Tours Colorado Macaw Clay Lick – Tambopata Lodge Inn

Morning boat ride upstream of the Tambopata to observe the Colpa Colorado.
Witness the gathering of parrots, macaws, and other wildlife.
Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Visit the Research Center for more information about the area.
Boat journey downstream to Tambopata Lodge Inn.
Visit native medicinal plantations in the afternoon.
Dinner at the lodge.
Night activity to observe black alligators.
Rest in your respective rooms at Tambopata Lodge Inn.

Day 4: Tambopata  Reserve to Sandoval Lake

Wake up to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys.
Breakfast and boat journey down the river for 50 minutes to the port.
Private transport for 2 hours back to Puerto Maldonado.
Transfer to the office to prepare for the Sandoval Lake Reserve tour.
Boat ride along the Madre de Dios River for 45 minutes to the Sandoval del Tambopata Lake Reserve.
Register at the control post and start a 1-hour 30-minute walk observing flora and fauna.
Canoe ride through the forest to Sandoval Lake, then arrive at the lodge.
Accommodation in private rooms with shower and bathroom.
Explore the flora and fauna around the lake.
Night walk to observe nocturnal animals.
Overnight stay in private rooms at Sandoval Lake Lodge.

Day 5:  Lake Sandoval to Puerto Maldonado and Airport/Bus Terminal

Early departure after breakfast.
Return to Puerto Maldonado by boat.
Repack luggage and transfer to the airport with the guide.

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Lodge Inn Adventure Begins

Your journey starts with a warm welcome at the airport or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado. After check-in at our main office, we’ll travel two hours by private transport to the Tambopata port. From there, a scenic 50-minute boat ride will bring us to the Tambopata Lodge Inn, where the adventure begins.

During the ride, keep your eyes peeled for capybaras, caimans, and perhaps even a jaguar basking on the riverbanks. Upon arrival, enjoy a refreshing Amazonian drink before settling into your private room.

In the afternoon, a guided trek through the primary rainforest unveils a world of ancient trees, vibrant butterflies, and curious monkeys. After dinner, a nocturnal excursion offers a chance to spot black caimans, capybaras, and perhaps a feline prowling by the riverbank.

Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick and Tambopata Research Center Exploration

Rise early to catch a breathtaking Amazon sunrise as we journey 1 hour and 20 minutes up the Tambopata River to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. Here, hundreds of parrots and macaws gather in a dazzling display of color and sound, feeding on the mineral-rich clay to balance their diets.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast while marveling at the spectacle before exploring the Tambopata Research Center, renowned for its contributions to conservation. Discover giant trees, medicinal plants, and diverse wildlife, from monkeys to tapirs. After dinner, we’ll take a night hike to observe nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 3: Colorado Macaw Clay Lick and Medicinal Plant Exploration

The symphony of the jungle awakens you as we set out to the Colorado Macaw Clay Lick, a hotspot for parrots, macaws, and even mammals. Watch nature’s choreography unfold before returning to the lodge for breakfast.

In the afternoon, visit a native medicinal plantation, where you’ll learn about traditional remedies and taste exotic fruits like papayas, pijuayo, and cashews. Conclude the day with a night tour to observe black caimans and other nocturnal species before resting in your private room.

Day 4: Journey to Sandoval Lake

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a boat and road journey to the Sandoval Lake Reserve. Following a one-hour hike through lush rainforest, we’ll board a canoe to traverse the serene waters of Sandoval Lake, surrounded by towering palms and aguajales.

Marvel at the reflections of migratory birds and playful monkeys. In the evening, a guided night walk will introduce you to the Amazon’s nocturnal wonders, from frogs to the elusive nocturnal monkey (Musmuqui).

Day 5: Return to Puerto Maldonado

Begin the day with a sunrise paddle on Sandoval Lake, taking in the last glimpses of this pristine paradise. After breakfast, retrace your journey back to Puerto Maldonado. Once there, repack your memories and treasures before being transported to the airport or bus terminal.
