ITINERARY
Tambopata National Reserve: The Wild Heartbeat of the Peruvian Amazon
Deep within the lush rainforest of southern Peru lies one of the most fascinating destinations on the planet: Tambopata National Reserve. This natural sanctuary, protected since the year 2000, covers more than 274,000 hectares of pure life, where nature expresses itself without limits and every corner amazes.
Located in the Madre de Dios region, very close to the border with Bolivia and next to the majestic Bahuaja Sonene National Park, Tambopata is the perfect setting for those seeking adventure, disconnection, and a true connection with nature.
A Climate That Breathes the Jungle
Here, the air is warm and humid, with temperatures around 26°C (79°F). Rain nourishes life year-round, creating a vibrant, green, and intensely alive environment.
A Paradise of Unmatched Biodiversity
Tambopata is not just a destination—it’s a sensory experience. It is considered one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, home to thousands of species living in perfect harmony.
What can you find here?
Playful monkeys, stealthy jaguars, and the impressive giant river otter
Flocks of macaws and parrots painting the sky with color
Black caimans lurking in calm lakes
Turtles such as taricayas and motelos
Giant trees like the lupuna and shihuahuaco
Thousands of butterflies turning the forest into a living spectacle
Every walk is a discovery. Every sound tells a story.
Natural Wonders Found Nowhere Else
One of Tambopata’s greatest attractions is its famous macaw clay licks, where hundreds of birds gather each morning on clay cliffs. This unique natural phenomenon is simply unforgettable.
And if you’re seeking tranquility, Lake Sandoval awaits with its serene waters. Gliding by boat among palm trees while listening to the sounds of the jungle and observing wildlife is a magical experience.
Adventure and Connection with Nature
Tambopata offers activities for every type of traveler:
Guided jungle hikes with expert guides
Boat and catamaran rides along rivers and lakes
Wildlife and plant observation in their natural habitat
Photography of unique landscapes
Camping under a sky full of life
Living Culture and Authentic Experiences
Beyond its nature, Tambopata is also home to native communities such as the Ese’eja, who preserve ancestral traditions. Visiting these communities is an opportunity to learn about their culture, their deep connection with the forest, and their way of life.
A Destination That Transforms
Traveling to Tambopata is not just tourism—it’s a reconnection with what truly matters. It’s about feeling the immensity of nature, understanding its balance, and taking home an experience that changes the way you see the world.
If you are looking for an authentic, intense, and life-filled destination…
Tambopata is waiting for you.
