Day 1: Welcome to the Jungle & Monkey Island Adventure

Your Amazon adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to Peru’s southern rainforest. Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, our team will welcome you and transfer you to our office for a brief orientation about your upcoming journey.

Next, travel by boat along the Madre de Dios River, surrounded by lush rainforest scenery, until you reach your jungle lodge. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink made from local Amazonian fruits before settling into your eco-friendly room.

In the afternoon, embark on your first guided rainforest walk, where you may spot monkeys, tropical birds, butterflies, and fascinating plant life. After lunch, cross the river to visit Monkey Island, home to squirrel monkeys, white-faced capuchins, and saddleback tamarins.

As night falls, head out on a nocturnal boat excursion to search for caimans along the riverbanks. With luck, you may also spot capybaras and other nocturnal wildlife before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Sandoval Lake – A Natural Paradise

After breakfast, journey to the breathtaking Sandoval Lake Reserve, one of the most beautiful protected areas in the Peruvian Amazon. A short boat ride followed by a scenic 3 km jungle hike leads you to this pristine oxbow lake.

Explore the lake by silent paddle canoe, allowing close encounters with wildlife without disturbing the environment. Look out for hoatzins, herons, osprey, howler monkeys, capuchins, and, if you’re lucky, the endangered giant river otter. Massive black caimans may also be seen resting along the shores.

After returning to the lodge for lunch, enjoy a guided night walk, where the jungle reveals a completely different personality—glowing insects, colorful frogs, tarantulas, and mysterious nighttime sounds fill the forest.

Day 3: Canopy Walk, Zipline & River Adventure

Day 4: Journey to the Tambopata Reserved Zone

Following lunch, explore pristine primary rainforest on a guided walk, encountering ancient trees, monkeys, butterflies, amphibians, and rare insects. After dinner, head out on an exciting night wildlife walk, searching for caimans and nocturnal creatures before resting in your comfortable lodge.

Day 5: Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick – Nature’s Greatest Show

Rise early at 5:00 AM and travel by boat along the Tambopata River as the sun rises over the jungle. Keep an eye out for jaguars, capybaras, or anacondas along the riverbanks.

Arrive at the famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, one of the largest and most active in the Amazon. From a strategically placed blind, watch as hundreds of scarlet, red-and-green, and blue-and-yellow macaws descend to feed on mineral-rich clay. Enjoy breakfast while witnessing this unforgettable natural spectacle.

In the afternoon, continue exploring the reserve on foot. After dinner, another night walk offers chances to see tarantulas, night monkeys, and snakes.

Day 6: Fishing, Jungle Swimming & Mammal Clay Lick
