Day 1: Welcome to the Jungle – Initial Exploration & Night Wildlife Spotting
Your experience begins with a personalized welcome at the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado. From there, we’ll take you to our offices, where you’ll receive all the necessary information to begin your Amazon adventure.
Next, we’ll head to the port to board a motorboat and travel for approximately one hour along the majestic Madre de Dios River. Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll be greeted with a refreshing exotic fruit juice and a warm welcome from our staff. After settling into your eco-friendly room, your unforgettable jungle journey begins.
Immersive Jungle Hike
After a short rest, we’ll take a two-hour introductory walk through the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Guided by a local expert, you’ll explore trails surrounded by centuries-old trees—some over 500 years old—and encounter wildlife such as:

After an energizing breakfast, we’ll begin a boat journey to the entrance of the spectacular Sandoval Lake, one of the most iconic destinations within Tambopata National Reserve.
Jungle Trek and Canoe Ride on the Lake
After checking in at the ranger station, we’ll hike approximately 3 kilometers (2 miles) through the jungle to reach the lake. Accompanied by our guide, we’ll embark on a peaceful canoe ride across its serene waters, a habitat for Amazonian piranhas and an extraordinary variety of wildlife.
During this excursion, you may see:
