Madre de Dios -rainforest Peru

Peru is a large department (or state) in the wild, southeastern part of the country. Its name means “Mother of God” and is a common Spanish synonym for “the Virgin Mary”. The rather generic name given to the Madre de Dios department in Peru Nature Tambopata is a reflection of how little was known about the region during the Spanish colonial era. Whereas some departments were assigned the same name used by the Incans, neither Incan people nor Spanish colonists settled in the southeastern Amazonian lowlands so the department was simply named in honor of one of the most revered figures in Roman Catholicism (the principle religion of the Spanish colonists) .

TOURS DAY 1:

AMAZON JUNGLE TRIPS – LABERINTO HUITOTO WILDLIFE

Reception at the airport by the company’s guide, trip on an 8 passenger van (star) or bus depending on the amount of passengers by the Interoceanic road to the district of Laberinto for about 45 minutes. Then on a canoe trip with an outboard motor of 60 H.P. in the journey you will observe the flora & fauna along the shores of the Madre De Dios River also the extraction of gold and wood native style and semi-industrial like dredges , rafts and catamaran where the guide will explain the mechanism of the jobs that are carried out for the extraction of gold and different activities that are also carried out by local families or immigrants in the area ,after that we will go to the 5 Island Pier and a 15 minute walk in a path , getting to the shore of the lake to be transferred on catamaran or rowboat for 45minutes approximately .

Then thru Lake Huitoto and during the journey appraising a variety of birds like the toucan, stink bird, egrets , ringed, green, Amazon, green-and –Rufus and pigmy king fisher, caiman alligators ,olivaceeous(neo tropical) comoran etc.. Etc… Then to the lodge to be received by the administrator with a cool welcoming with natural fruit drinks from the region after that you will go to your perspective BUNGSLOWS Dinner : 7:30 p.m. after night walk

TOURS DAY 2:

HUITOTO WILDLIFE – AMAZON JUNGLE TRIPS

We will leave at 5:00a.m.to do a route on boat or catamaran by the lake to watch the sunrise over Lake Huitoto and the awakening of the macaws and observe the shores of the lake and the variety of birds of dawn also the variety of monkeys in the Enchanted Island like the spider monkey ,the red howler monkey ,capuchin monkey ,squirrel monkey , the dusky titi monkey and others like the stink bird or prehistoric birds and you will see GIANT OTTERS. Lake Huitoto Lodge offers abundant wildlife around 60 species of birds residents of this lake which the macaws are the ones that stick out the most with approximately 5 species these are easy to observe or to take pictures from the catamaran .

After we will return to the lodge where we will have our breakfast, then we will leave 9:30 a.m. to walk on the paths to see part of the swampy zone of the humid palm swamps where the palms are 25 to 30 meters high called aguajals(Mauritia palms) and at the same time watch the primary forest and the different species of trees which stick out like the ceiba , Brazilian nut trees , tree of fire ,tree of steel and other similar , at the same time appraise the different species of medical plants of the area . Also we will visit the mammal clay licks.

With the possibilities to see the powerful puma, jaguar and the harped eagle back to lodge where we take our lunch Relax in the installations of the lodge in the afternoon we the departure in catamaran on boat to the lake to observe more the flora& fauna that live near the lake like monkeys, birds, caiman alligators, also the amazing sloth and Piranha Fishing and appraise the sunset of the afternoon .In the evening at about 6:00 p.m. approximately we will go and see the caiman alligators and we will be able to see the powerful and bright nocturnal eyes of the caimans using flashlights to be able to see them better. A night walk soon afterwards where we go and observe species of insects, tarantulas, grasshoppers, bats, butterflies, nocturnal monkeys, and others etc… Etc.

TOURS DAY 3:

HUITOTO TRAIL WILDLIFE – AMAZON JUNGLE TRIPS

Today we will have our breakfast at about 7 .30 Am, then we depart at about 9.30 AM where we take a walks on the paths of the Enchanted Island of a primary forest where you will appraise animals in their natural habitat like the spider monkey (maquisapa), the red howler monkey and a trip on catamaran lake where you will be able to see a variety of birds like the toucan, stink birds , egrets, all types of kingfishers like ringed , green ,Amazon ,green-Rufus and pygmy kingfisher, caiman alligators , oliaceeous (neo tropical) comoran, anhinga, macaws etc.. In the afternoon we return to lodge for lunch. Departure at 4:00 p.m. to have a Botanical walk approximately of 2 hours along the shores of the lake going thru the palm swamp or the humid swampy area thru a narrow native bridge to visit the Brazilian nut tree and opening the Brazilian nuts with the traditional Brazilian nut machete, and at the same time observe the leafy primary forest and some species of birds, then back to the lodge for dinner and a night walk.

TOURS DAY 4:

AMAZON JUNGLE TRIPS – HUITOTO WILDLIFE – PUERTO MALDONADO

Return trip: departure time at 5:00 a.m. on the lake then 2 hours on canoe to the population of Laberinto with a box lunch, we board the van for 45 minutes, then luggage pick up at the office to go directly to the airport.
