Wild Peru Macaw Clay Lick Chuncho 4 Days / 3 nights

The world’s green lungs have always enticed people to their alleged treasures. Explorers went in search of El Dorado, highland settlers in search of cultivable land, loggers come looking for wood and tourists want to explore its most valuable commodity– the natural rainforests with their enormous variety of plants and wildlife. The Peruvian Amazon comprises a huge area of jungle reaching from the eastern slopes of the Andes to the borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Bolivia. Tambopata National Reserve is one of the last relatively accessible, virgin tropical rainforests in the world. Remote and pristine, this region is only a 45-minute flight away from Cusco. The Reserve, a 274,690-hectare area (678,774-acre), offers a wealth of biodiversity, as well as magnificent natural landscapes. Considered to be a Global Mega Diversity Hotspot by Conservation International (ENGO), nature in this region has remained intact largely due to limited road access and construction, and the creation of several major National Parks with a total area of more than 3.6 million hectares (9 million acres) set aside for protection. This protected area is home to an enormous variety of plants and animals, including a large number of species that are only rarely found elsewhere in the Amazon due to poaching and deforestation. Examples include tapirs, spider monkeys, jaguars, white-lipped peccaries, different types of monkey and caimans .

Amazon Nature – Macaw Clay Lick 2 days

Tambopata Tours Macaw Clay Lick: The forests of the Amazon form part of the world’s largest rainforest, half of the world’s total, and house the greatest proportion of the world’s biodiversity -birds, insects and plants. The rainforests provide lumber, fiber, food, fuel and medicine, but are disappearing fast and already 500,000 km2 have been cleared. It has recently been shown that rainforests have for years been taking up the excess carbon produced by our industrial age and their conservation will be critical for dealing with the problems associated with climate change. But not all forests are created equal, the Tambopata-Candamo is a biodiversity hotspot. In anyone square kilometer you will find more species of insects, birds and mammals than almost anywhere else on earth. Fortunately, Tambopata- Candamo is one of the best protected areas of lowland Amazon rainforest.

Tambopata Tours

Travelling to Tambopata National Reserve offers a rare opportunity to discover a lively biodiversity of birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and trees. Record-setting numbers of animal species are concentrated within small areas, and the variety of plant life is greater than almost anywhere in the world. To help you experience the wonder of this magic place, we have prepared a suggested itinerary for your stay at Tambopata Lodge Inn.

Macaws are becoming increasingly threatened with endangerment and, in some cases, extinction largely due to poor reproductive rate and progressively higher levels of deforestation and exploitation. As a way to combat the dwindling populations, macaw preservation techniques have been implemented in some South and Central American locations. The Tambopata Macaw Project in the Madre de Dios region of Peru has been the leading force of this macaw conservation effort. Their efforts at supporting the proliferation of this species have included the protection and management of macaw habitat, the construction of artificial macaw nests, and the hand-rearing of macaw chicks in captivity for later reintroduction into the wild. The increasing level of human contact withthe ecology of macaw species in Tambopata, Peru has raised some concerns about how beneficial artificial breeding and rearing strategies are to the overall conservation of macaws. In this paper, the negative and positive effects of artificial strategies of macaw conservation taking Blue-and-yellow Macaws at the Collpa Colorado 2place in the Tambopata Research Center are analyzed in order to assess whether increased human care for the macaws in this region of the Peruvian Amazon
